Streamlining trigger delay estimation for T1 mapping

چکیده
Background T1 mapping in end diastole requires correct identification of the diastolic pause, and an appropriate input of the trigger delay time (TD) into acquisition parameters to ensure parametric mapping during the true diastolic pause for minimal motion-related blurring of myocardium. This diascan can be derived for individual patients from either the 4 chamber or the short axis stack. However, this additional step adds complexity and time to the scan and potentially introduces error. We investigated whether the TD could be estimated from the heart rate (HR) to simplify MOLLI acquisitions.

Systolic ShMOLLI myocardial T1-mapping for improved robustness to partial-volume effects and applications in tachyarrhythmias
BACKGROUND T1-mapping using the Shortened Modified Look-Locker Inversion Recovery (ShMOLLI) technique enables non-invasive assessment of important myocardial tissue characteristics. However, tachyarrhythmia may cause mistriggering and inaccurate T1 estimation. We set out to test whether systolic T1-mapping might overcome this, and whether T1 values or data quality would be significantly differe...
متن کاملWide-Range T1 Mapping Using Two Variable Flip Angle Acquisitions
Introduction: Volumetric T1 mapping using two variable flip angle (VFA) acquisitions has become a popular clinical tool for T1 estimation due to short scan times and ease of implementation. The conventional approach to flip angle selection has been based on maximization of the signaldynamic range (S-DR) product for a single T1 value of interest (typically ≤ 1000 ms), with estimation accuracy an...
متن کاملSystolic T1 mapping for estimation of myocardial diffuse fibrosis
Background Parametric T1 mapping currently allows non-invasive estimation of diffuse left-ventricular fibrosis. Imaging for T1 mapping is usually acquired during the diastolic phase. However, in tachycardia and arrhythmia, diastasis is short and imaging challenging. Conversely, systolic T1 mapping might offer an advantage and further enable more accurate ROI delineation for T1 maps as the myoca...
متن کاملRapid cardiac T1 mapping within two heartbeats
Introduction: T1-mapping offers a mean to quantitatively assess structural changes in the myocardium. Pre-contrast T1 mapping may assess areas at risk while post-contrast delayed-enhancement T1 mapping may assess myocardial infarction [1-3]. Multi-point T1 mapping approaches, such as Modified Look-Locker inversion recovery (MOLLI) [4], have been shown to detect changes in myocardial T1 in both ...
متن کاملT1 mapping of myocardium using inversion recovery cine at 3.0T
Methods The sequence, IR-rttfl, performs realtime turboflash acquisition after an inversion pulse to capture the recovery of inverted magnetization. It is immune to T1 unrelated issues (e.g., field inhomogeneity). Diastolic images (about 12) are selected for T1 calculation using [4]. A trigger delay (about 300-400 ms) is applied before the inversion pulse so that initial magnetization recovery ...
